About Wisconsin Master Chorale

WMC was formed in mid-August of 2001, by Dr. Gary Bangstad in the small college town of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The goal was to satisfy the needs of many singers in the central Wisconsin area who wanted to sing the classics for community enjoyment. The auditioned Chorale includes professional singers, music and voice teachers, university and high school students as well as community members from Stevens Point, and the surrounding area.

If you would like to join WMC, but aren't sure what to expect, we invite you to visit a rehearsal. We meet 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Sundays in the Music Room of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1919 Wyatt Ave., Stevens Point, WI, 54481.

Choir member dues are: $45.00 per year, or $25.00 per concert. Student members pay only $5.00 per concert.

The purpose of WMC is to provide an aesthetic experience for our vocalists, and audiences by performing choral masterpieces of all musical periods and styles.

WMC is a volunteer, nonprofit organization that relies solely on the dues of members, tickets sales and donations from individuals, organizations and businesses. You can support through tax deductible contribution, or by purchasing our CDs for sale at concerts. The Chorale provides educational programs for its singers, and the community through rehearsals, workshops, scholarships and other avenues.

The Chorale members are the ruling body of WMC. All decisions of importance are presented to the chorale for a vote. A Steering Committee carries out the tasks necessary to operate the organization. All Committee meetings are open to all members of the Chorale, and the public.
