Larry P. Hansen joins the WMC with 33 years of teaching Choral Music and Theater in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Music - Vocal degree from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. While there he studied under Professor Morris Hayes, a internationally known choral conductor. He is a charter member of the UWEC Singing Statesmen.
Post graduate work was done at UW - Madison, VanderCook College of Music, the University of Minnesota and Maryknoll College in Los Angeles. He worked with Conductor Dr. Charlene Archibeque in Los angeles, Robert Morton of the Twin Cities Opera Company and John Rutter, composer from London, England.
Larry has conducted several Choral Festivals. He is a Master Adjudicator for the Wisconsin School Music Association. He has judged District and State Solo/Ensemble Festivals and Large Group Festivals for 39 years. Several years ago, he created the Music Theater Solo category for the Solo/Ensemble Festivals. He also serves as a Field Representative for WSMA.
Larry served as the Liturgist and Minister of Music at St. Joseph Church in Black River Falls for 10 years. He currently sings with the Goria Dei Choir at St. Stephens Parish in Stevens Point and is also their accompanist.
Larry's second passion is theater. His first appearance on stage was when he was 5 years old. He has been involved in theater ever since that time. He has been a member of the Falls Players, the Neillsville Players, the Central Wisconsin Community Theatre and the Monroe - Jackson Dance Theater. He is a director, choreopgrapher, designer and an actor. He has directed 56 theatrical productions and much more.
The ability to inspire and enable others to create beautiful music or bring a character to life is what fulfills his soul.
